A Devotional by Pastor Dorothy Hotchkiss

15 April 2020

“God is my rock. My refuge is in God.” Psalm 62: 7b

I want to share a portion of this morning’s devotional reading from Psalm 62.

My morning devotion was based on Psalm 62. Verses 5 — 8 were really “hitting home” - It confirms for me that I find my REST in him because my HOPE comes from God. The Psalm of David encourages us to TRUST God, and don’t be afraid. Many things feel out of control. Our routines are not running smoothly. We realize that we feel more secure when our life is predictable. Lean on the rock that is higher than you and your circumstances. Take refuge in the shelter of His wings, like the shelter of baby chicks in the wings of their mother. There you are absolutely secure.

Psalm 62 offers us rest. Rest from all the turmoil we feel in our life as a result of what is happening around us and the conversation about returning to “normal”. Instead of bemoaning the loss of your comfort, accept the challenge of something new. Do let God work in your life. In verse 8 it says, “Trust in God at all times”.

Heavenly Father, let us look to this day as a blessing - a blessing to share a conversation with someone that is alone, a blessing to make something better, a blessing that somehow today we purposely share your love by word, action, and/or prayer.

Be safe.

Love in Christ.
