Clean Out

How many of you have a tool — a kitchen utensil — wood working tool that you needed? You finally purchased it, maybe at a savings. Did you ever use it? Did the coveted tool give you the satisfaction of the hunt to posses it? Hmm ... Now what? During the past 50 days we have tried to keep our routines “normal” while facing the concerns that COVID-19 dropped into our lives. Most have continued a modified work routine. Many have followed the theme “stay home, stay safe”. So what has become the underlying activity? Attack the list of “to do” items that has been put off time and time again. For most of us that means getting into the corners of the house, garage, and shed to look through the stuff - opening bags or boxes and maybe you’ll find the “almost like new” coveted tool once again. It may cause a slight smile. Romans 12:2 reminds us it’s easy to be squeezed into the mold of this world. In Matthew 6 Jesus reminds us of the difference between earthly and heavenly treasures. The story of stuff in our lives — it applies to men and women of every age. It’s not limited to material things, but our emotional, financial, relational, and personal stuff. The stuff turns to burdens — and the Bible is very explicit how you can lighten the weight of life’s burdens. Cast all your cares on Him (Jesus) for He cares for us - I Peter 5:7 NKJV. He can do the impossible. He can work it out. Matt. 11:30 NKJV - Jesus told us to come to Him when we are burdened and heavily laden. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Prayer: Lord, help us to not be overcome with earthly treasures and miss the true abundance God wants to bestow upon us. Amen.

Are you struggling with giving away items that hold a special meaning to you? No room to display, no room to store the items. Share them by taking a picture and telling their story. Create a “storybook” album. Lighten your burden.
