A Devotional by Pastor Dorothy Hotchkiss

17 November 2020

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ,

Pray you and your loved ones have been safe and healthy. The challenges of 2020 have not stepped away for us to relax. However, the promise of scripture remains as true today as it did centuries ago. “I will never leave you or forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6.

Most of you have received this devotional by email. If you would like to share a prayer request with me please send it to my email listed below and I will add you to my prayer list.

We have come to the season of Thanksgiving. What is better than giving thanks? LIVING thanks! Thanks-living changes your disposition. The increase in recent COVID positive tests is discouraging! How can you and I remain positive and be an example to others? Thanks-living is our faith in Christ Jesus turned inside out. Thanks-living opens the door for God to work. Be careful ... God is at work! God does miracles on our behalf when we choose to thank Him and praise Him, even in the deepest, darkest pit.

Praise Him! Praise Him in song.

I was cleaning out the piano stool last week and found some old sheet music. It was so old that it cost 75 cents. The words and music were by Dale Evans performed by Dale Evans and Roy Rogers (very old, released June 1955.) The song’s title is “The Bible Tells Me So”. The words to the upbeat scripture based song could help change your disposition and encourage you to start thanks-living. The Bible verse is found in I Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

“Have faith, hope and charity, that’s the way to live successfully. How do I know? The Bible tells me so. Be good to your enemies and the blessed Lord you’ll surely please. How do I know? The Bible tells me so. Don’t worry ‘bout tomorrow just be real good today. The Lord is right beside you, He’ll guide you all the way. Have faith, hope and charity, that’s the way to live successfully. How do I know? The Bible tells me so.”

Blessings to you and your loved ones! Enjoy the season of Thanks-living!! By sharing your faith, hope and charity!
