Hemlock - A memorial service was held Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 1971 at the Hemlock Baptist Church for Mrs. Althea F. Abbey of 72 Main St. Livonia, who died in Rochester, Nov. 1.

Mrs. Abbey was born in Livonia, Nov. 14, 1927, the daughter of Burnell and the late Alice Harvey Briggs.

She was a graduate of Livonia Central School class of 1945. Attended the Harper School of Beauty Culture and operated her own shop for six years.

She was a member of Livonia United Methodist Church, Livingston County Hair Dressers Association and Eagle Star Chapter OES in Honeoye.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald F. Abbey and one son, Eugene Abbey, both of Livonia; one daughter, Mrs. Donna VanDerMeid of Avon; her father Burnell G. Briggs of Hemlock; one brother, Larry Briggs of Hemlock and step-mother, Mrs. Pauline Briggs of Hemlock.

The Rev. Elmer Grow officiated. In lieu of flowers, friends may make Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Hemlock Baptist Church.

Interment was at the convenience of the family in Harder Cemetery, Livonia.
