Elmer Colegrove, his wife Jessie Shepard and children Earl Colegrove and Flora Colegrove Harris owned and operated several cottage businesses at Canadice lake NY. This cottage was located on the east side of Canadice Lake about halfway down. It sat on the South side of Colegrove point. There was also a small hotel on the bank of the north side of Colegrove point.

This photo was taken circa 1910. The people are unidentified.

Another Colegrove cottage on Canadice Lake was a boat livery called “The Shanty” which was located on the west side near the south end.

It was owned and operated in the summers by the Colegrove family; Elmer and his wife Jessie and their children Earl Colegrove and Flora Colegrove Harris. They sold ice cream and pop and no doubt bait also. Mainly, they rented row boats. The large concrete wall, which still exists on the bank of the west side of the lake, was poured by Earl Colegrove and was the foundation for the boat livery. In the winter, the boats were stored in the “Shanty” area. This photo was taken circa 1943.
