The Obituary of Florence G. Crout Harvey

23 September 1878 - 5 February 1951

From the Livonia Gazette, 8 February 1951

Hemlock - Mrs. Florence Harvey of Hemlock, widow of Grant Harvey, died from a heart attack last Monday, Feb. 5, 1951, following a 5-year period of failing health. Mrs. Harvey appeared to be as well as usual when her children visited her Sunday night. One of her daughters, Mrs. Clair Wingate, tried unsuccessfully to get her on the phone about 10 o’clock Monday morning, and also about quarter of 12. When Mrs. Harvey’s son, Alfred, reached home at noon, he found his mother, who has succumbed following a fall.

Mrs. Harvey was born in Beaver Dams, Schuyler County, NY, Sept. 23, 1878, a daughter of Frank and Alice Van DerWarka. She was married Dec. 31, 1893 and the family lived for a time in Cattaraugus county, moving to Hemlock 47 years ago. Mr. Harvey died Sept. 7, 1942.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Clair Wingate (Ruby), Mrs. Burnell Briggs (Alice) and Mrs. Harry Gray (Pauline); 5 sons, Harold, Clayton, Cecil, Albert and Alfred; two brothers, Clarence Crout of Billingham, Wash., and Glen of West Henrietta; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be private and will be held at 2:30 today, the Rev. W. J. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
