The Obituary of Elizabeth Artman Humphrey

birth - 19 February 1894

From the Dansville Express, 22 February 1894

Elizabeth Humphrey died, on the 19th inst, at her late residence in Birdsall, Allegany county, NY, Mrs. Elizabeth Humphrey, aged 71 years.

She had a severe attack of the grip, last autumn, which resulted in a disease of the heart. Her decline was slow and painless. She fully realized that the days of her pilgrimage must soon draw to a close, but was anxious to depart.

She was married forty-five years ago to Aranda Humphrey of Springwater, and moved directly from her Sparta home to the place where she has resided ever since. Her earnest and efficient wok in the church and in every philanthropic enterprise endeared er in a very large degree to the community around her.

She leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn her loss. They have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and relatives.

Mrs. Humphrey was a sister of John and William Artman and Mrs. L. Coller of San Diego, California.
