The Obituary of Daniel S. Owens

1868 - 1 October 1945

From the Lima Recorder, 4 October 1945

Funeral services will be held at the family home at 2:30 this afternoon for Daniel S. Owens of Hemlock, whose death occurred Monday, Oct. 1, after a long illness. Interment will be in Curtis cemetery, Richmond.

Mr. Owens had made his home in Hemlock and vicinity for over 50 years, going there as a young man from Canada. He ws a member of the Hemlock Baptist church.

Besides his wife, Mae Briggs Owens, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred Knapp of Detroit, Mich.; a son, Earl of Niagara Falls; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held from the Brown Funeral Home in Livonia, Tuesday, July 28, 1970 for Mrs. Mae Owen who died in Detroit, July 25.

Mrs. Owen was born in the Town of Richmond in 1875. She was the daughter of Caleb and Flora Foley Briggs.

She was a member of the Hemlock Baptist Church and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Irene) Knapp; a grandson, James Owens; a great-grandson, Kevin Owens; and nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Elmer Grow officiated. Interment in Curtis Cemetery in the Town of Richmond.
