Ed Gascon at the Fiddler’s Picnic in 1950.
“For a good day’s outing and a lot of fun, come to Hemlock Lake park, Sunday, August 20, when Ye Olde Fiddlers will have their annual musicians roundup and fiddlers picnic,” says Matt C. Barry, president of the organization.
One of the many acts will feature Edward E. Gascon of the old Gascon vaudeville team. Mr. Gascon, who is 84 years old and a resident of South Livonia, has appeared before the royalty of England with his act. He will put on his original performance that he used to give at the Cook Opera house in Rochester and will wear the same costume. Mr. Gascon will be accompanied on the piano by Joe Monk, who was orchestra leader at the Cook Opera house. Mr. Barry feels that this team alone will be worth going to see.
An added attraction will be David B. Brady, Rochester’s commissioner of public safety, who will play his fiddle.
Mr. Barry invites all to take their picnic baskets and attend the picnic. Ice cream, hots and cold drinks will be sold by the Sanderson class of Hemlock.
