The Obituary of Helen L. Brown Bailey

12 January 1856 - 5 April 1918

From the Naples News, 10 April 1918

Last Friday evening, April 5th, at 8 o’clock, at her home in Lyon street, after an illness of about a year, Helen Louise, wife of Albert M. Bailey, passed into rest.

Mrs. Bailey was the only daughter of John and Mary Brown, deceased, and was born in Mumford, N.Y., Jan. 12th, 1856. She was united in marriage with Albert M. Bailey, of Springwater, on Feb. 11th, 1877. To this union were born two daughters, Edna, wife of Irving L. Parks, and Georgia, wife of Elliott S. Davis.

Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Baptist church, Hemlock and a woman who though very quiet and retiring, might well be taken for a model as wife, mother, friend and neighbor.

No one who knew her could say aught but the kindest things, and her memory will be long cherished and missed by those who loved her. She was very devoted to home, husband, children and grand children, and in them her life was centered. They in return loved her as deeply and most tenderly ministered to her in the days of her failing strength.

About fourteen years ago Mrs. Bailey with her family moved to Naples and while she did not go out much she has made many friends in the localities where she lived, who deeply sympathize with the family in their deep sorrow.

Besides her husband and children, deceased is survived by three grand-children, Pauline and Stuart parks, and Donald Davis; also by two brothers, Edward Brown of Hemlock, and George Brown of Naples.

Funeral services were held from her late residence, Monday, April 8, at 11 A.M., Rev. Alban McKnight officiating. Interment in Springwater.
