Joel Bailey, formerly a resident of Canadice, but more recently living near Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday after a lingering illness at the age of 70 years.
Mr. Bailey was always noted for his genial disposition and had many friends.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Amos Swarts, and one son, John, of Buffalo, who took the entire care of his father for the past two months. He is also survived by one brother, Albert M., of Springwater, and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Agard of South Livonia, Mrs. Adda Perrin of Hillsdale, Mich., Mrs. Emory Hoppough of Rochester, Mrs. John Westbrook of Naples. The funeral will be held from the home Thursday at 2 p.m.
Canadice - Joel H. Bailey, an old resident of this place, died at Dansville on October 1, 1922, aged about 70 years.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Amos Swarts, and two sons, Frank and John. He also had one brother, Albert, and three sisters, Mrs. Emory Hoppough, of Rochester; Mrs. Frank Agard, of South Livonia, and Mrs. Perrin, of Michigan.

Sparta - Mrs. Kate Bailey, widow of the late Joel Bailey, passed away at the home of her son, John Bailey, of Buffalo, early Friday morning at the age of 77 years. She had been ill only a short time with measles followed by pneumonia. All was done that loving hands could do but she could not rally.
Mrs. Bailey was a resident of this vicinity and leaves two children, a daughter, Mrs. Jay Swarts, and a son, John, of Buffalo, where she had spent the winter, two grandchildren, Verne Swarts and Mrs. Claire Perkins.
The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, and was largely attended. The flowers were many and beautiful. Burial in Evergreen cemetery, Springwater.
Webster Crossing - Mrs. Kate Crane Bailey, 77 years of age, widow of Joel Bailey of West Springwater, died on Friday, May 24, at the home of an adopted son, John Bailey, in Buffalo. Measles was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of the late Henry Crane of Sparta, who lived on the farm now owned by Andrew Sutton, and was the last one to pass on of a family of three sons and three daughters. The sons were Benjamin, Arthur and Charles, and the daughters were Mrs. Mary Wambold and Mrs. Sarah Howell.
The funeral was held on Sunday from the home of her son-in-law, Jay Swarts. She leaves her daughter, Mrs. Jay Swarts, one son, Frank, and an adopted son, John, of Buffalo. Interment was made at Springwater.
