Hemlock - Otis A. Beam, father of former Sheriff D. Sayre Beam, died suddenly Tuesday at his home in Hemlock, where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
Mr. Beam was long prominent in the Beam Milling Company founded by his father. At the tiem of his wife’s death two years ago, the Beams had been married 57 years. Beam Milling Co. maintains offices in Avon and Geneseo, and for two winters Mr. Beam lived in Avon.
He is survived by another son, Floyd.

Hemlock - Funeral of Mrs. Daisy M. Beam, 76, wife of Otis A. Beam, Hemlock, who died Thursday, October 17, was conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the home. Burial was in Lake View cemetery, Honeoye.
Mrs. Beam had been in poor health for several months. She was born in Canadice, the daughter of Lemuel C. Short and Mary Robinson Short and was a descendant of Philip Short, a Revolutionary War soldier who came to Hemlock in 1795.
Mrs. Beam received her education at the former Genesee Wesleyan seminary at Lima where she studied music. She taught piano in Hemlock prior to her marriage. Mrs. Beam and her husband were married December 25, 1889, and they observed their 56th wedding anniversary last year.
All of her life had been passed in this community. She was a member of the Hemlock Methodist church where she took an active part in the work of its organizations, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge where she was a past noble grand. She also was a former member of Eagle Star Chapter, OES, of Honeoye.
She leaves her husband; two sons, Livingston County Sheriff D. Sayre Beam of Geneseo and Floyd C. Beam of Hemlock; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
