To-night as we, the class of 1922, reach the end of High School Lane, there are many paths which beckon us. One of these is Higher Education, which the class of 1922 has decided to take. As we passed through the Wood of Knowledge toward commencement we encountered many difficulties and temptations, which came very near destroying our good intentions and our chances of winning the four golden apples which are necessary for us to have before we can enter the temple of Higher Education.
When the Wood of Knowledge seemed most formidable and we could not distinctly see the goal ahead of us, it was the encouragement and co-operation of our teachers and friends who aided us in perceiving once more the cherished goal.
To the board of education we express our thanks for the aid and help they have given us in securing a high school education. And to the faculty present here to-night, and to the former faculties, we wish to express our heart-felt thanks for the way in which they co-operated with us and helped us to gain these four golden apples. To our friends and relatives we express our thanks for the encouragement and interest they have shown in the class of 1922.
As we pass through the gate of commencement into life’s school, we fully realize that we have new fields to conquer. In conquering these new fields we shall always keep in mind the principles of our Alma Mater that she may look with pride on the class of 1922.
Fellow-classmates, we regret to bid you farewell, but we hope that you will continue through the Wood of Knowledge and some day hold the honored position that we are holding to-night.
Now, in behalf of the class of 1922, I bid you a last farewell.
