The Obituary of William H. Cone

1866 - 1 February 1959

Bristol CT - William H. Cone, principal of Livonia High School from 1896 to 1902, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1959, and funeral services were held the following Wednesday in Bristol, Conn., where the family originally lived. Mr. Cone’s home at the time of his death was Keeseville, Essex County. He was about 95 years of age.

He is survived by three children; Harold of __; Mrs. Willard (Mildred) Horns, Minneapolis; Miss Gertrude, librarian at Plattsburg State Teachers College; and a sister, Miss Mabel Cone of Rochester. Mr. Cone’s wife, who died many years ago, was the former Persis Mather of Hemlock.

At the time of his death Mr. Cone as the oldest living member of Livonia Lodge, 778, F & AM Local Masonic records show that he was initiated in Newport (Herkimer County) in 1894, when he was 30 years old, and that he affiliated with the Livonia Lodge two years later.

Bristol CT - Olin Mather has gone to Bristol, Conn., called there by the death of his sister, Mrs. W. H. Cone, which occurred at 8 o’clock Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Cone, who was Miss Persis Mather, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grove Mather, had been ill with jaundice all summer, and this, with complications, was the cause of her death. She was about 50 years old.

In the late 90’s Mr. Cone was principal of the High School at Livonia.

Mrs. Cone is survived by her husband and three children; Mildred, Gertrude and Howard.

The funearal will be held this (Thursday) afternoon. Miss Ellen Mather has been with her sister for several weeks.
