Doolittle Reunion in 1922

From the Naples Record, 13 September 1922

Lakeville - About 75 people gathered on the lawn at John West’s, in Lakeville, on Labor Day, at the reunion of the Doolittles. It was an ideal place for such a gathering, and Mr. West and family did all in their power to make the reunion a success.

Guests were present from Silver Springs, Ellicottville, Dunkirk, Rochester, Lakeville, Livonia, Hemlock, Honeoye, Allens Hill, Naples, Henrietta, New York City, Hillsdate, MI, Wayland, Springwater, Syracuse and Groveland.

By the way, the Doolittles in this section are descendants of Abner Doolittle, who was born in Connecticut and came with his children to New York state. From that beginning the Doolittles have settled in every direction, even to the Pacific coast, where a goodly number of them are found.

A long table was spread on the lawn, and so many good things were on the table that when all had eaten till all were satisfied, 7 baskets remained, yes, more than 7 baskets remained, 7 times 7 would be nearer right.

After dinner the assembly was called to order by the president, E. W. Doolittle, and the following officers were elected: President, Dr. Leigh Norget, of Henrietta; vice-president, Mrs. Cleora Blake, of Naples; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Florence Friot, of Conesus; historian Miss Emma J. Winch, of Canadice.

The afternoon, which passed only too quickly, was spent in visiting, interspersed with games and stunts of all kinds.

The company separated with many good wishes and hearty goodbyes, hoping to gather again another year.
