In Flower City Hospital, New York City, occurred the death on Sunday, February 13th, 1927, of Miss Zeruah Caroline Doolittle, aged 56 years.
She was the youngest of eight children of the late A. Wilson and Caroline Thorpe Doolittle, and was born in Canadice on October 2d, 1870, residing there during her childhood, after which she came with her father to Naples, where a large portion of her life was passed. The past few years she had resided at Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Miss Doolittle is survived by three brothers, Elmer W. Doolittle, of Rochester; John E. Doolittle, of Ellicottville, and Thomas W. Doolittle of Naples, and by three sisters, Mrs. Emily Norget, of Allens Hill; Mrs. A. M. Blake, of Naples, and Mrs. John West, of Conesus. One brother, Lucius Doolittle, of Canadice, died several years ago.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Canadice yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. G. H. Nelson, pastor of the Hemlock Methodist Church, and burial was made in the Canadice cemetery.
Canadice - Miss Zeruah Doolittle, aged 54, died February 13, at a New York hospital.
Miss Doolittle was born in Canadice and grew to womanhood in this village. Her father was the late Wilson Doolittle. After leaving here she spent some years with her father in Naples and after his death she passed the greater share of her life in Rochester although she spent some of her last years in Florida where she was taken ill. She came north as far as New York but her health would not permit her coming any farther.
She is survived by three brothers, Elmer of Rochester, John of Ellicottville, and Thomas of Naples and three sisters, Mrs. Emily Norget of Allen’s Hill, Mrs. Cleora Blake of Naples, and Mrs. Carrie West of Conesus.
The funeral service was held at the Canadice church Tuesday, the Rev. Mr. Shergur officiating. Burial was made in Canadice cemetery beside her parents.
