T. H. Gibbs of Canadice, familiarly known as Huxley, was found dead in the kitchen of his farm home about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon by Clair Proctor of Hemlock, who had been working for him. Proctor notified Deputy Sheriff Fogarty of Hemlock, who investigated and summoned the sheriff and coroner of Ontario county, as Mr. Gibbs lived in the latter county. A verdict of suicide was rendered.
Mr. Fogarty states that several nights ago Mr. Gibbs borrowed a shot gun and bought some shells in Hemlock, stating that there were rabbits around his farm which he wanted to shoot. It was this gun he turned upon himself Tuesday, and according to Mr. Fogarty apparently he had placed the butt on the floor, put his head over the barrel and pushed the trigger with a stove poker.
The body was removed to the undertaking rooms of Reed & Reed in Livonia. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30. Burial in Union cemetery.
Huxley Gibbs was the son of the late Dr. Anson and Carrie Wheaton Gibbs and was born in Hemlock sixty years ago.
