Italy - Next Wednesday, June 12th, Miss Ida Mae VanRiper will be united in Marriage to George Higgins, Jr., of Springwater, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar VanRiper, in Italy.

Italy - George Higgins and Miss Mae VanRiper were married at the home of the bride in Italy on Wednesday. They were in Rochester until today and will visit the Pan-American.

Mr. and Mrs. James VanRiper attended the wedding of his niece, Miss May VanRiper, at Italy Hollow, last Wednesday. She was united in marriage with George Higgins of Springwater in the presence of over one hundred invited guests.

The Obituary of George E. Higgins II

1879 - 7 June 1957

Springwater - George E. Higgins, 78, died unexpectedly June 7 in his home in Springwater.

He had served as Town of Springwater supervisor for 10 years from 1945 to 1955. He also served as town clerk and peace justice before being elected supervisor on the Republcan ticket.

He was a member of Livingston Lodge, IOOF, of Springwater, of which he was a past district deputy and past grand. He had been a member of the lodge for 40 years. Mr. Higgins also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and a Springwater fire commissioner, and honorary member of the Springwater Fire Co., Inc. and a member of the Methodist Church in Springwater. Mr. Higgins operated a service station in Springwater for many years until becoming supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, May Van Riper Higgins; a son, Kenneth of Middletown; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Hayner of Plant City, Fla.; and a grandson.

The Obituary of Ida “Mae” VanRiper Higgins

Mrs. Ida May Higgins of Ridgedale R. Ithaca, died Wednesday (Oct. 19, 1977) in Thompkins County Hospital after a long illness. She was 92.

Mrs. Higgins was a native and longtime resident of Springwater before moving to Ithaca. She was a member of the Springwater Methodist Church and the Boice Bible Class of the church. She was a member of the Violet Club of Springwater and was a former district deputy of Livingston County Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harlo Beals of Ithaca; a son, Kenneth Higgins of Middletown; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

A servie was conducted in the Walter E. Baird and Sons Funeral Home, Wayland, Friday with the Rev. Douglas-Beasley officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Springwater.
