Miss Katherine Johanna Taylor of Williamsville, and William E. Humphrey of Humphrey Farms, Springwater, were united in marriage Saturday evening (Sept. 10, 1966) in the First Methodist Church, Webster’s Crossing. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Henry Williams.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben W. Taylor of El Paso, Tex., and the groom is the son of Mrs. Theodore Humphrey and the late Mr. Humphrey of Springwater.
More than 200 guests attended the candlelight wedding which was centered on a theme of fall colors and flowers of golden chrysanthemums, carnations and pompom. Organist was Mrs. Fay Duffy of Springwater who played “Blessed be the Tie that Binds.” Miss Paula Plain of Springwater sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in an ivory colored suit, a pearl headdress and ivory colored accessories. She carried a Bible and orchid carnations, pompoms and chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Volney J. Nale of El Paso, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a rust colored suit and accessories and a cymbidium orchid corsage. Maid of honor was Miss Jerry Rivers of Ithaca who chose a golden brown suit and a cymbidium orchid corsage.
Best man was Roger Humphrey of Springwater, brother of the groom. Ushers were Roger Bennett of Ionia NY and Laurent Taylor of Chicago, IL., brother of the bride. Ring bearer was David S. Nale of El Paso.
The wedding reception was held in the church. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Reuben W. Taylor, Jr. of Media, Pa. and Mrs. Laurent Taylor of Chicago, sisters-in-laws of the bride, and Miss Carol Humphrey of Rochester, sister of the groom. Miss Diane Yeager of Williamsville received the signatures for the guest book. The tree-tiered wedding cake was decorated by the bride’s former associates at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Special guests at the wedding were Mrs. Viola Lawrence, of Springwater, the groom’s grandmother; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Lawrence of Pittsford; Miss Elsa Lawrence of Rochester; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller of Geneva; Dr and Mrs. Francis L. Cady of Rochester; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Cady of Lakeville; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Humphrey of Rochester.
The bride is a graduate of Texas Technological College in Lubbock, TX. and did graduate work at Cornell University and has been staff dietician at the Buffalo State for the past two years.
He is a graduate of Alfred Technological Institute and is currently studying agriculture at the University of Georgia at Athens.
The couple will travel to Georgia on their wedding trip. They will reside at 396 1/2 Rutherford St., Athens, GA.
