Springwater - While brief mention was made in the Register at the time of the anniversary, a happy wedded life of over half a century truly should be recounted in more detail.
Miss Luna Kramer of Conesus and Joel Johnson of Springwatter were united in marriage on Feb. 24, 1895, in Livonia by Rev. Mr. Hendricks of the Methodist church. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kramer and his were Mr. and Mrs. Joel Johnson.
They rode in a cutter over huge snow drifts to the church, and both recall the cold weather and typical hazards of winter travel.
They lived at Liberty Poe and in different places, but mostly at Springwater, where Mr. Johnson was engaged in farming. He was 80 on Dec. 2, and Mrs. Johnson was 75 on March 21. She has been active in local organizations - the Methodist church, Grange, Boies Bible class, WSCS, Rebekahs and Firemen’s auxiliary. She is a correspondent for the Register, and avocation which began about 20 years ago.
They are parents of a daughter, Mrs. Charles Van Buskirk of Oakfield, a son, Frank of Springwater, and have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
