Bath - Frank D. Katner, 72, a resident of Wheeler for the past 35 years, died Monday in Lakeview Memorial Hospital. He was the father of Undersheriff Theodore F. Katner and for eight years was active as a Republican commiteeman in Wheeler.
A blacksmith by trade, Mr. Katner was engaged in this work for 40 years and opened his own shop when he moved to Wheeler. He retired a few years ago. He was born in Canadice NY Dec. 6, 1884, the son of Charles and Estella Francisco Katner.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lena G. Beach Katner of Wheeler; one daughter, Mrs. Lorenzo Sinclair of New City; four sons, Theodore F. and Eugene of Bath, Harry of Avoca and Kenneth of Parishville; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Thomas of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and a niece.
The Rev. James Reichert of Kanona will officiate at the funeral services at the Bond Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery.
Canadice - Frank Katner died at the Bath Hospital, Tuesday, Apr. 30, 1957, where he had been a patient for several days.
He was born in Canadice Dec. 6, 1884, the son of Estella Francisco Katner and Charles Katner.
In 1904 he was married to Lena Beach. After living here several years he moved to Wheeler. He was a blacksmith by trade.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Sinclair of New City; four sons, Theodore and Eugene of Bath, Harry of Avoca and Kenneth of Pottsdam. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at the Bond Funeral Home in Bath with a large attendance and many beautiful floral offerings. Interment was in the Wheeler cemetery.
