Grandpa Mastin, John Peter Mastin, lived on Bald Hill, moved from there to Pierce farm on the west side of Hemlock Lake, and from there to the Tyler farm, Springwater NY which was at the head of Hemlock Lake.
They moved from there to a small farm on Canadice Hill, which they bought. It was known as the Brown Place. They bought it from Frank Grover in 1891. Lemon Mastin would have been about 11 years old at the time.
It was a farm of about 50 acres. The house was built of logs. After living there a few years the barn burned, they built a new one. The place was in the Mastin family for 63 years. It was bought by John McIntyer.
