Springwater - A last rite was conducted Wednesday in the Springwater United Methodist Church for Burton E. Perkins, 68, of Springwater who died Saturday in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Holmes Perkins; a daughter, Mrs. Justin Coates of Springwater; six sons, Ernest and Allen of Springwater, Lawrence of Rochester, Neil of Palm Harbor, Fla., Robert of Odem, Tex., and Kenneth of Gorham; two brothers, Paul of Rochester and Charles of Webster Crossing; a sister, Audra Spencer of Geneseo and 18 grandchildren.
Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery, South Livonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church or Ambulance Fund in Springwater.
Burton E. Perkins, 68 of South Mair St., Springwater died on Saturday evening, August 25, 1979 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Perkins was a native of Springwater area and retired in 1977 from the Castle Co. in Rochester. He was a member of the Springwater United Methodist Church and the Springwater Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Holmes Perkins; 1 daughter, Mrs. Justin (Lorna) Coates of Springwater; 6 sons, Ernest and Allen of Springwater, Lawrence of Rochester, Neil of Palm Harbor, FL, Robert of Odem, TX, Kenneth of Gordam; 18 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul of Rochester, Charles of Websters Crossing; 1 sister, Audra Spencer of Geneseo.
Contributions may be made to the Springwater Ambulance Fund or to the United Methodist Church in Springwater.

Springwater - Mary E. Perkins, 89, died Sunday, May 19, 2002 in Hornell.
Friends may call Thursday, May 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home in Wayland. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at the Springwater United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, South Livonia.
Mary was born May 12, 1913 in South Livonia. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Phedora Pauline Sharp Holmes.
She was a 1933 graduate of Wayland High School.
She married Burton Erwin Perkins in 1933.
She was a member of the Springwater United Methodist Church and its U.M.W. group. She had been a Twig volunteer for the Wayland Hospital. She enjoyed needlework, quilting and playing pitch. She was devoted to her family. She was retired from the Wayland Central School cafeteria staff.
Mary is survived by six children: Ernest (Rose) Perkins of Wayland, Lawrence (Linda) Perkins of Penn Yan, Neal Perkins of North Carolina, Lorna (Larry Eddy) Coates of Wayland, Robert (Dusty) Perkins of Texas and Kenneth (Robin) Perkins of Gorham; one daughter-in-law, Dottie Volpe Hill of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Thelma Clapp of Springwater; four sisters-in-law: Grace Holmes of Springwater, Martha Holmes of North Carolina, Winifred Holmes of Florida and Elizabeth Perkins of Webster’s Crossing; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Burton, her daughter Marilyn and her son Alan. (GCE, May 23, 2002, p4)
