Springwater - Charles R. ‘Buster’ Perkins Sr, 62, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility, Geneseo, where he had resided for the past three years. Buster had lived with multiple sclerosis for more than 35 years and suffered several recent strokes.
Buster was born June 26, 1943, in Wayland, a son of Charles J. and June (Baker) Perkins. He was a 1961 graduate of Wayland Central School. He married Florence A. Collins on Feb. 3, 1962; she survives. He was a welder at Eastman Kodak in Rochester for many years and had previously worked at Stone Fabricators in Honeoye. He also had run Perk’s Repair Shop and Lawn & Garden Sales & Service.
Buster was a life member of the Springwater Fire Department and the Springwater Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Webster Crossing Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Springwater Ambulance, Springwater Fire Police and the Democratic Committee. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting and fishing and took part in all of the activities at the skilled nursing facility. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son.
Buster is survived by his wife of 43 years, Florence; his children Charles (Lisa) Perkins Jr. of Dansville, Jotham (Kristie) Perkins Sr. of Wayland and Christopher (Patricia) Perkins of Illinois; his grandchildren Charles III, Shanna, Arick, Chase, Jotham Jr., Jessica, Brady and Nathan; his parents Charles J. and June Perkins of Springwater; sisters Linda Guffey of Honeoye, Meredith (Joseph) Pikulski of California and JoAnn Perkins of Wayland; his mother-in-law Lila B. Collins of Springwater; brother- and sister-in-law John and Darlene Collins of Groveland; his aunts Esther Baker of Livonia and Elizabeth Perkins of Conesus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends called 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home; 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial was in Erwin Cemetery, Springwater.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Florence A. Perkins of Dansville, New York, born in Livonia, New York, who passed away on July 13, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends.
She was predeceased by : her parents, John Collins I and Lila Boyer Collins; her husband Charles R. Perkins, II; her brother James M. Collins; and her parents-in-law, Charles J. and June B. Perkins.
She is survived by : her children, Charles R. Perkins, III (Shelley Collins) of Dansville, Jotham W. Perkins, Sr. (Kristie Stevenson) of Wayland and Christopher J. Perkins (Georgia Lippolis) of Italy; her grandchildren, Charles Perkins III (Katrina), Shanna Burley (Larry), Arick Perkins (Corinne), Chase Perkins, Jotham Perkins, Jr., Jessica Perkins, Brady Perkins, Giada Perkins, Ginevra Perkins and Nathan Stevenson (Alyssa); her brother John P. Collins (Darlene) of Groveland; and her sisters-in-law, Linda Guffey, Meredith Pikulski (Joseph) and Jo Ann Perkins. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 16th 2023 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. (300 W Naples St, Wayland, NY 14572). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 17th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
