From the Livonia Gazette, 3 December 1909

Hemlock - Word has been received here of the death of Horace M. Purcell of Linwood. He was for many years a resident of this village. He is survived by Mrs. Purcell and two children - J. L. Purcell of Wheatland and Mrs. J. E. Sinclair of Caledonia. Mr. Purcell’s age was 62 years.

From the Caledonia Advertiser 19 January 1922

Mrs. Horace M. Purcell died on Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Sinclair, on Black Street. Mrs. Purcell had been an invalid for some years. She made her home with her daughter.

Besides Mrs. Sinclair she leaves a son, Jay Purcell, living in Canandaigua, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Coykendall, of Hemlock.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at one o’clock at the family home. The interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, west of Linwood.

Mrs. Purcell was about 75 years old and had resided at Linwood for forty years. Rev. Higinbotham officiated.
