The Obituary of Frank M. Seward

Canadice - After a long period of ill health, Frank M. Seward died at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester on Thursday, Aug. 30. He had been a patient there for several weeks.

Mr. Seward was born in Bristol on June 10, 1874, the son of Isaac and Harriet Davis Seward, and came to this town at an early age, residing at Canadice Corners, where he passed the remaining years of his life except a few years in Avon and Livonia.

On Nov. 16, 1899, he was married to Miss Carrie Smith of Canadice, who survives, with a daughter, Mrs. John (Mildred) Clelland of Rochester; also two grandchildren, Miss Ruth and Patrick Clelland of Rochester; one brother, Fred Seward of Rochester, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. and at the church at 2:30 Monday afternoon with interment in Canadice cemetery.

The bearers were Clifford Becker, Normain Paine, Chester Gorslin, Raymond Becker, Earl Mastin, Everett Affolter.

Mr. Seward will be greatly missed by his associates and neighbors after his long life of friendship with them, and the sincere sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family.

The Obituary of Carrie A. Smith Seward

Canadice - Mrs. Carrie Seward, widow of Frank Seward, died on May 7, 1959, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.

Mrs. Seward was the daughter of Mansel and Sarah Smith and was born in Canadice June 20, 1874. She was married on Nov. 16, 1899, to Frank Seward, and had always lived here except for two short periods. She was a member of the Methodist church and the W.S.C.S. and was one of the oldest residents in our town.

She leaves her daughter, Mrs. John Clelland; a granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth Degus; a grandson, Patrick, all of Rochester; a nephew, Clayton Smith of Batavia.

The funeral was held at the Canadice Methodist Church on Monday afternoon with interment in the Canadice Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Brown Funeral Home, Livonia. Many floral offerings were received. The community sympathizes with the family.
