Springwater - Lee E. Speers, 68, died unexpectedly yesterday (May 8, 1967) in his home on North Main Street. He has resided here all his life. He was employed by C. S. Cannon Co., Springwater, for the past 38 years.
He was a member of Springwater Methodist Church, a charter member and past president of Springwater Fire Company, a member of Warren Patchen Lodge 883, F&AM, the Order of the Eastern Star 499 of Wayland, Livingston Lodge 727, IOOF, of Springwater, the Gore Encampment of Spencerport, and Canton-Monroe Lodge, IOOF, in Hilton. He was treasurer of the Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery Association of Springwater.
He is survived by his widow, Ada Swarts Speers; a son, James of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Baird Funeral Home, Wayland, where the service will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow with Rev. Raymond B. Horan officiating. Burial in Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery.
Masonic services will be at 7 p.m., Springwater Fire Company memorial services at 7:30 p.m., and IOOF services at 8 p.m. today.

A retired Springwater school teacher, Mrs. Ada May Speers, 73, died unexpectedly Monday (May 19, 1969) in the home of her son in Des Moine, Iowa, where she had resided for the past six months.
Mrs. Speers was a graduate of Geneseo State Teachers College. She was a member of the Springwater Methodist Church, the Springwater Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her son, Dr. James F. Speers who is commissioner of the Iowa State Department of Health; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Rung of Akron, N.Y., Mrs. Mabel Rector of Geneseo and Mrs. Marjorie Brown of Greenfield; a brother, Harry Swarts of Akron; and four grandchildren.
A Rebekah memorial service was conducted in the Baird Funeral Home in Wayland last evening and was followed by an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted there at 9 a.m. today. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Springwater.
