In 1830 Silas was on his father’s farm in Springfield, Otsego Co., NY. In 1840 he was on his own farm in Hemlock NY. His name is on the 1858 map.
“He was a farmer and hop grower in Hemlock Lake, NY”. They moved to South Livonia NY before 1870; He died in fall of 1872.
There were only two living sons of Silas - George Albert (1872 map) and William Henry. George stayed in Hemlock. William moved to Michigan and their mother Nancy went with him.
The farm was sold to a relative, George G. Thurston, son of Robert Thurston of Livonia Center NY.
