Geneseo - David H. Westbury, gatekeeper for many years at Hemlock Lake for the Rochester Waterworks Co., died of old age and heart trouble last evening.
He was eighty-five years old, Mr. Westbury was the father of Mrs. W. E. Lowe of this town. He is also survived by two sons, David H. Westbury, Jr., and Raymond E., both of Rochester.
The funeral will be held at St. Luke’s church in that city.
The announcement of the death of David H. Westbury at his home at Hemlock Wednesday night was a surprise to our citizens.
Mr. Westbury’s age was 85. He was one of the oldest Masons in the State, having joined Genesee Falls lodge in 1862. He was also a member of Temple lodge of Odd Fellows, which he joined at the same time.
Two sons and a daughter are living - David H. and Raymond of Rochester, and Mrs. Lowe of Geneseo.
He had been the representative of Rochester at the gate house for thirty years anyway, and we don’t know but several years longer than that.
He was a bright and companionable man, and his many old friends all over the country will regret to hear of his death.
The burial will be at Rochester tomorrow at 9 o’clock.
