Springwater - At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday last, Oct. 21, 1905, occurred the death of John S. Wiley, a highly esteemed citizen of this town at his home a short distance east of the village, at the advanced age of 80 years.
He had been suffering with a cancer for a year past and a few months ago began to fall rapidly, suffering intensely until his death.
He was the eldest son of Rev. John Wiley who died many years ago. He had been a prominent factor in town and county matters, and had filled the office of supervisor of this town at one time. He had been a member of the M. E. church in this place for many years and held the office of steward for a long time.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Frank S. Wiley of Chicago, and one daughter, Minnie of Springwater; two brothers, Robert H., and Henry A., of Springwater; three sisters, Mrs. Jackson Brown of Syracuse, Mrs. W. W. Capron of Wayland, and Mrs. Hickok of Canadice.
The funeral was held at the residence at 2 o’clock p.m., today, Rev. F. H. Dickerson Officiating. Burial in Mount Vernon Evergreen cemetery.
