The Hemlock School as it appeared in 2011 was built in 1929 to replace the Union School which burnt on the 19th of July 1928.
In front of the school building is a Veteran’s Memorial dedicated to all veterans from Hemlock including the three men who died in WWII: Claude Abbey, Carl Drain and Elbert Knapp.
The Veteran’s Memorial is registered as an American Legion Veteran’s Memorial Site which can be seen at this link: American Legion Registered Veteran’s Memorial.

The Hemlock High School in Hemlock NY had a museum in its basement. The museum grew out of a suggestion of Mrs. R. Reed who donated her fine collection of stuffed birds and animals for the school pupils to visit and learn.
At her suggestion Mr. Chauncey asked the Board for sufficient space and cabinets for the exhibition. Soon other persons became interested in the project and the idea of a museum for the community developed.

In the collection are found spinning wheels, ox yokes, candle molds, clothing, an old cradle and trundle bed, primitive stove, dishes and other articles. The old records of this community found in previous school records, newspapers, letters and court files are a very interesting part of the collection.

The Hemlock High School in Hemlock NY had, for a while, a museum in its basement. Apparently, the museum was broken into and some artifacts were stolen. The remains were then stored at the Livonia Historical Society.
