Our new school house a little north of the village, is finally completed. It stands in a beautiful grove, a pleasant site and a very nice house; all of its fixtures are in order and in good taste. It has two large rooms which at pleasure can be thrown into one, affording all the room necessary for the children of this district. The walls are high and the seats are comfortable; we think it is a gem of a house, worth the money it cost, and honor to the district, and is every way adapted to the object for which it was built.
Last Friday evening, Nov. 17th, was formally set apart for the purpose of education. The citizens of the district, young and old, a choir of singers, and others also were present, making quite a large company. Rev. Slaysman was elected chairman. Services opened by singing and prayer. A short and appropriate address was delivered by Mr. Partridge, county superintendent of common schools, also a speech by Mr. Frank Mather.
Thus passed a pleasant evening’s entertainment in dedicating our new school house.
