Canadice - Our community was shocked and saddened Monday evening, when the news was received that Dayton C. Becker had succumbed to an attack of coronary thrombosis at the office of Dr. William Meyer in Honeoye.
Mr. Becker had gone to Honeoye Central School to attend a meeting of the board of education, leaving home in his apparent usual health. Just before reaching Honeoye he became ill and on reaching the school stopped and explained his condition to some who were gathered there. He was taken immediately to the doctor’s office, where everything possible was done to relieve him, all to no avail, and after a few minutes he passed away.
Mr. Becker was a son of Marion and Emma Tague Becker and was born in Canadice Sept. 12, 1889. He had passed his entire life in this town.
On Dec. 6, 1908, he was married to Miss Esther Preston of Canadice who survives with four children: Fremont Becker of North Cohocton, Miss Ruth Becker of Canandaigua, Mrs. Ora (Leah) Ace and Clifford Becker of Canadice; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Maud Van Duyn andMrs. Spedee Preston of Canadice; one brother, Harrison F. Becker of Livonia Center.
Mr. Becker was a member and an officer of the Canadice Methodist Church; Canadice town clerk for 18 years, member of Hemlock I. O. O. F. and Hemlock Grange, director of the First National Bank of Wayland, director of the Livingston County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and of the Alliance Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Canandaigua. He was also a past president of the Hemlock Fair Society.
In early years Mr. Becker was engaged in farming. Since 1916, however, he had been in the insurance business, in which he had been highly successful.
The funeral will be held at Canadice church Thursday, Apr. 2, at 2:30, the Rev. E. W. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Canadice Cemetery. The bearers: Donald Outhouse, Ralph Sutton, Marion Preston, Bernard Johnson, Raymond and Truman Becker.
The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family.
Mr. and Mrs. Becker returned only last Thursday from a trip to Florida.

Canadice - Mrs. Esther Preston Becker, 81, of Canadice died Aug. 27 in her home, following a long illness.
She was the widow of Dayton Becker. She had resided there all her life. She was a life member of the Canadice United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Becker is survived by two daughters, Miss Ruth Becker of Canadice and Mrs. Leah Ace of Lima; two sons, Fremont Becker of Wayland and Clifford Becker of Canadice; one brother, William Preston of Canadice; 12 grand children and 20 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Canadice Church Cemetery.
