Baskets of white gladioli decorated the altar of the Congregational Church in Livonia Saturday, Aug. 17, 1963, at the marriage of Miss Ann Margaret Briggs to Mr. William Alan Brown. The Rev. Gordon C. Johnson received the vows.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard C. Briggs of Hemlock. The parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Brown of Geneva. Dr. George Henry Day of Geneva was organist for the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of Brussels lace with a scalloped neckline, long sleeves and a dome-shaped skirt terminating with a chapel train. Her elbow-length veil of French illusion net was attached to a seed pearl flower-shaped headpiece. She carried a cascade of white roses and ivy centered with a white orchid and accented with lilies of the valley.
Miss Jean Briggs, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Carol Vercruysse of Fairport and Mrs. Gunter Minges.
Richard G. Brown was best man for his brother. Ushers were Lee Cook of Penn Yan, cousin of the groom; Charles Starwald and Theodore Connor of Honeoye Falls.
The mother of the bride was attired in an ice blue sheath of carnel with matching hat. She wore white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The groom’s mother wore a rose colored silk sheath drress with a fitted lace bodice and matching hat. Her accessories were white and she wore a white orchid corsage.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Big Tree Inn in Geneseo.
Prenuptial events included a personal shower given by Mrs. Gunter Minges and Miss Mary Benzing and a variety shower given by Mrs. Lee Coykendall.
The former Miss Briggs was graduated from State University College at Geneseo. She is on the staff of Cooperative Educational Services, and will teach this fall in the Pittsford school system.
Mr. Brown, a graduate of State University College at Oswego, is a teacher in the Honeoye Falls central school district.
After Sept. 1, the couple will be at home in Mendon.
