A very pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Wheaton, at Springwater, NY, on Wednesday, August 15, 1923, when their youngest daughter, Marguerite, was united in marriage with Mr. Carl Gross, of Naples, NY. The ceremony was performed by Rev. William L. Deighton, pastor of the M. E. Church, the double ring service being used.
The wedding march was played by Miss Sara Fisher. The bride was attended by her niece, Mrs. James Duffy, and Mr. Duffy acted as best man. Twenty-five of the immediate relatives attended the wedding.
The bride wore a gown of white satin, trimmed with Spanish lace, and carried a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses and sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a gown of gray canton crepe.
After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. The house was tastefully decorated, the color scheme being pink and white. After dinner Mr. and Mrs. Gross left for an auto trip to Scranton and Gettysburg, Pa, Washington, D. C., and other points of interest. On their return they will live at Naples.
The bride is an accomplished musician and a devoted church worker. She is a graduate of Springwater High School and of Geneseo State Normal School, and taught last year in Dansville High School.
Prenuptial events for Mrs. Gross included a variety shower given by Miss Elsie Shafer, of Dansville, and a shower given by the members of the Methodist Sunday School.
