Springwater - Samuel “John” Wheaton of Springwater died at his home on North Main street Sunday evening. He was born in Cohocton 81 years ago. He is survived by his wife; one son, George, of Springwater; three daughters, Mrs. George Fisher of Springwater, Mrs. Merle Wright of Dansville, and Carl Gross of Naples, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral was held at the late home Thursday at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Lester Spencer of the Advent Christian church of this village officiating, with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
“John” as he was known, at age 25, married Sarah House, age 18 on 23 Mar 1875 at the Presbyterian church at Corning, New York.
John cultivated grapes, fruit orchards and oat fields on his farm in the town of Springwater, NY near the intersection of Strutt Street and Wheaton Hill Road.

Naples - Mrs. Sarah E. Wheaton, age 80 years, died Tuesday evening, April 6th, 1937, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Gross, after an illness of several years.
Mrs. Wheaton was born in the town of Avoca, NY, April 24, 1857, the daughter of Samuel and Rachel Bilson House. She married Samuel Wheaton, of Springwater, who died seven years ago. For the past few years she has made her home with her daughter here in Naples.
Mrs. Wheaton is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carl Gross, of Naples, Mrs. Mearle Wright of Dansville, and Mrs. George Fisher of Springwater; one son George Wheaton of Springwater; a half sister, Mrs. Bertha Naracong of Cohocton, and a half brother, Hiram Naracong.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Fisher, in Springwater, the Rev. E. J. Burton, pastor of the Naples Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating and the burial will be in Clearview cemetery Springwater.
Mrs. Sarah E. House Wheaton is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater NY.
