George purchased lot 103, a 247 acre farm just south of Hemlock Lake in Springwater in the 1890’s. This was the third lot north of Kellogg Road which bordered what is now Marrowback Road to the west and Highway 15A to the east.
He sold his farm to the City of Rochester when the city purchased and removed the farms and cottages surrounding Hemlock Lake due to the lake being used as a reservoir for Rochester.
He was highway superintendent for Springwater from 1918 - 1922 and from 1925 - 1930. He was Springwater town assessor from 1940 through 1948.
He was a forty year member of the Livingston Lodge IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows), a member of the Rebekahs and the Springwater Grange.
