Funeral services for Eugene B. Henry, 68, who died Wednesday morning May 18, after a brief illness at the Memorial hospital, Canandaigua, were held Friday in the home at Canandaigua. The Rev. Webster D. Melcher, pastor of the M. E. church there, officiated. Burial was made in the Woodlawn cemetery, Canandaigua.
Mr. Henry was born in 1870, in the town of Richmond, a son of Clark and Eliza Wright Henry, and was married in 1900 to Miss Ida McGaffee. The most of his life was spent in Canadice, where, after his marriage, he bought the farm formerly owned by his father and was a successful farmer. He was very active in the church work and civic affairs of the town and held various offices in each. Eleven years ago he sold his place in Canadice and moved to Canandaigua, where he had since resided and operated a coal business for the last few years. The large attendance at the funeral services and the many floral offerings show the high esteem his many friends held for him.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Schwartzenbach of Andover, Mrs. Burgess Newton and Gertrude of Canandaigua; six sons, Theodore of Richmond, Lewis of Troy and Ellis, Rosco and Howard of Rochester, and Charles of Cheyenne, WY; one sister, Mrs. Will Eldridge of Canadice; three brothers, Charles of Canandaigua, Fred of Canadice and George, address unknown; and seven grandchildren.
The sons acted as bearers. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family.
