Springwater - The death of Marchus J. Ingraham occurred at Wayland hospital on Wednesday Aug. 12, at the age of 87 years and 4 days.
Mr. Ingraham was a son of the late Hiram and Amanda Jackman Ingraham and was born in Springwater Aug. 8, 1855. When a small boy, he moved with is parents to Canadice, where he lived until he returned here and after a few years purchased the Dr. Gray place. He remodeled the house and had resided there since, a period of over 50 years.
Mr. Ingraham was engaged in farming, and as a sideline did mason and carpentry work. At one time he had a large apiary, furnishing honey for this community.
He was one of the three rural mail carriers who began service here when the routes were established in 1903, and acted in that capacity until his route was divided between the other two carriers some 15 years later.
He was a member and trustee of the Adventist church for a long period of years, and his death removes one of the oldest residents of the town.
On, Jan. 9, 1877, he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Ford and to them were born two sons, Floyd G. and Otto H., who both died in early mid-life and Mrs. Ingraham passed away in May 1931. Since that time, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Caskey have occupied the home and cared for him until he became mentally ill and was taken to the hospital for care last March. After he was not able to do any work, he kept up his physical strength by taking daily walks and calling on his friends.
Mr. Ingraham leaves a brother, William of Rochester; a grandson, Kenneth M. Ingraham; and two great-grandchildren, Ronald F. and Patricia M. Ingraham of Springwater.
The funeral was held from his late residence on Saturday at 3 p.m., Rev. J. Wallace Newville officiating, and burial was in Mt. Vernon Evergreen cemetery.
Those attending from out of town were William Ingraham, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Ford, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stoik, Mrs. Leon Ford, Mrs. Herbert Arft and sone David, all of Rochester.

Springwater - Entered into rest May 14, 1931, at Springwater, Nettie Ingraham; in her seventy-fifth year. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, Marchus Ingraham; one brother, Melvin Ford of Rochester, four nephews, Kenneth Ingraham of Springwater, Leon and Arthur of Rochester, Wells Ford of Hall; one niece of Rochester.
Burial at Springwater May 17th. Arrangements by H. & M. Ludwig.
