Canadice, NY - A strange coincidence happened in this town last week, the substance of which is as follows: Ambrose Kingsley, one of the oldest inhabitants of the town, died at the residence of his son, Addison, on Dec. 30, the funeral being held Jan. 1. He left three children, Addison, of this town; Homer A. of Rochester, and Mrs. Lucy Rider of Hornellsville. Deceased was 88 years old.
After the services, Homer A. of Rochester, went to W. D. Caskey’s to stay over night, and during the evening, while all were engaged in conversation, suddenly, and without any warning, his head fell forward on his breast, and he died instantly. An undertaker came from Rochester and removed the remains to that city, where a wife and a 15-year-old daughter survive him.
Mr. Kingsley was born in this town, but afterwards removed to Rochester, and went into the hardware business. He has been secretary of the Western New York Agricultural Society for many years. He has also been a member of the board of directors, and at one time was president of that body. His death was a great shock to the community in which he lived, as well as to his many relatives and friends in this town.
