Johnny, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Purcell died last Tuesday. Eddie, the older boy, who has been sick for several weeks, is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Purcell will have the sympathy of all their friends.
The funeral of Johnny Purcell, whose death was mentioned in the Gazette last week, took place from the house on Friday, the 3rd inst. Having been widely known and greatly loved, a large number of relatives and friends were in attendance.
The school came en masse to the house. The Rev. Mr. Blowers, assisted by Rev. I. H. Curtis, officiated.
The floral offerings were profuse, and only showed the high esteem in which he was held by the whole neighborhood. At the close of the services the lid of the casket was lifted, and, as the scholars passed by, each one dropped a bouquet into the casket, so that he was literally buried in flowers.
The grave was lined with white cloth, trimmed with evergreens. Of the most loving nature, he had won his way into the hearts of all who knew him; and although the parents and friends are in deep sorrow, they rejoice in the consolation that Johnny had early learned to love the Master, and died trusting in Him.
Eddie, the older boy, is steadily improving.
