Memorial services for George and Kathleen Clayson Weed, son and daughter-in-law of Gladys Weed and the late Bernard Weed of Websters Crossing, have been set for Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the RIT Inn & Conference Center, 5257 W. Henrietta Rd., Henrietta, N.Y. There will be a catered luncheon following the service.
George and Kathleen died on May 10, and [George on] May 12, along with their 6-year old black Lab, Saddie, in Pennsylvania from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle accident on I-81.
The crash involved three tractor-trailers and is still under investigation. Once it is complete, police will determine whether charges will be filed against the tractor trailer driver who crashed into the Tahoe the Weeds were riding in. State Police spokesman Rob Hicks said previously the Tahoe and two tractor-trailers ahead of a third tractor trailer braked to slow down for traffic backed up before Route 581. The third tractor-trailer driving behind the Tahoe did not stop in time. The tractor-trailer hit the Tahoe and it smashed into the back of the tractor-trailer in front of it, Hicks said. The second tractor-trailer then hit the back of the lead tractor-trailer. The crash occurred just past Exit 57 on northbound I-81 and closed a portion of I-81 for several hours Friday.
Both George and Kathleen grew up in Springwater and have deep roots in the community. George and Kathleen are survived by son, Bryan Weed, and daughter-in-law Janet Weed; daughter, Tricia Weed; and grandchildren, Keith and Jaxon Weed, mothers, Gladys Weed, and Veronica Roni Clayson, FL, and many extended family and friends.
Both were committed to serving the Rochester community. George with over 30 years of service at Kodak and as a consultant for the Environmental Protection Agency, and Kathleen with over 24 years at the Rochester City School District as a teacher.
