He is survived by his wife, Gladys; four children, George of West Henrietta, James of Conesus, Mrs. Virginia Link of Sonyea, NY, and Miss Mary Weed at home; four grandchildren; his mother, Mrss. Frances Weed of Rochester; and one sister, Mrs. Aristine Reinhardt of Billingham, Wash.
Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home in Wayland, 7-9 Friday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Interment in Erwin Cemetery, Springwater.

Gladys Virginia Hartson Weed, age 97 of Webster Crossing, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Gladys was born on October 29, 1924 on Liberty Pole Road in Springwater to the late William & Laura Marie (Long) Hartson II. She grew up working on the farm helping her family.
On August 15, 1945, she married Bernard Weed in North Cohocton; together they celebrated 29 years of marriage before his passing on January 8, 1975. Bernard & Gladys bought their home in 1947 in Webster Crossing where she has remained since. Gladys was a postmaster for 27 years and eventually retired on February 1, 1985 from the West Henrietta Post Office. She then worked at the country store in Conesus for another decade until she was 82.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys is predeceased by her children: James, George & Mary Weed; her grandchildren: Tricia & Robert Hoffman; her siblings: Ella Binder, Anson Hartson, Willard Hartson & Arden Hartson.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Virginia Weed; her grandchildren: Carl Link, Christi Weed-Johnson, Kerrie Weed, Anson Weed, & Bryan Weed; 12 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Martha Martin.
Gladys was an accomplished woman. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing the violin in school, she loved gardening and sewing, making quilts & afghan blankets; especially making her daughter’s their dresses. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. She belonged to the United Methodist Church in Webster Crossing where she spent much of her time, the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1779 in Conesus, a member and former president of the U.S. Postmasters Association, and the Springwater-Webster Crossing Historical Society. She also taught Sunday School, youth fellowship, and bible school. In 2005, Gladys was named, “Senior Citizen of the Year.”
Family & friends may call from 1pm - 2pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Webster Crossing United Methodist Church, 7230 NY-15, Springwater, NY 14560, where funeral services will be held at 2pm with Rev. Dorothy Hotchkiss officiating; burial will follow in Erwin Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wayland NY.
