The Obituary of Mary J. Weed

27 February 1955 - 4 December 2020

Springwater - Rochester - Mary J. Weed, 65 years of age, passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Mary was born February 27, 1955 in Dansville the daughter of Brenard and Gladys (Hartson) Weed. Mary grew up in Webster’s Crossing and moved to Rochester in 1976. She also resided in Churchville for 11 years. She moved back to the Webster’s Crossing area a few years ago and remained there with her mother, Gladys.

Mary graduated from Wayland Central School in 1973 and also from MCC, studying Criminal Justice and Liberal Arts. Her employment career was mostly spent at Kodak in Rochester. She worked for Kodak for 24 ½ years as a refrigeration mechanic and in the boiler instrumentation departments.

Mary enjoyed many hobbies that included; playing softball for many years; collecting coins; sewing; tinkering and fixing almost anything, especially cars and equipment; she even remodeled her home. There wasn’t much Mary couldn’t do! Mary was also a proud member of the Webster’s Crossing United Methodist Church.

Mary was pre-deceased by her father, Brenard Weed; her brother James Weed; her brother and sister-in-law, George and Kathleen Weed; a niece Tricia Weed; and a nephew, Robert Hoffman.

She is survived by her mother, Gladys Weed of Webster’s Crossing; her sister, Virginia Weed of Dansville; her nieces and nephews, Christi (David) Johnson of Wayland, Kerrie Weed (Glenn Vosburgh) of Wayland, Anson (Jennifer) Weed of Wayland, Bryan Weed of Chaumont Bay, NY and Carl Link of Dansville; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and especially her cat “Little One!” Mary’s family will attend private funeral services this week at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.

Committal prayers and interment will be at Erwin Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mary J. Weed may be made to Gilda’s Club( Cancer Support Community of Rochester), 255 Alexander St., Rochester, NY 14607.
