George W. Wheaton, 74, died Tuesday, August 13, 1957, at his home in Springwater, after a long illness.
After a number of years of farming, he operated a grocery in Springwater for about thirty years, and retired in 1950.
Mr. Wheaton was treasurer of Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery Association; a charter member of Springwater Grange; a member of Warren Patchen Lodge, F. and A. M., of Wayland; a member of Livingston Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of Springwater; a member of the Springwater Board of Fire Commissioners, and of the Springwater Water Company.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie Capron Wheaton; a daughter, Mrs. Lola Wemett, of Springwater; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Fisher, of Springwater, Mrs. Merle Wright, of Dansville, and Mrs. Carl a. Gross, of Naples; two granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the home, conducted by Rev. E. T. Read, of Wellsboro, Pa., a former pastor of the Springwater Methodist Church,
Burial will be made in Mt. Vernon Evergreen cemetery, in Springwater.

Mrs. Alma W. Wheaton, 91, of School St., Springwater, died Wednesday (Jan. 8, 1975) in the Wallis Nursing Home in Springwater following a long illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Springwater and was a descendent of the Withington family, one of the founding families of the Springwater area. She was a member of the Springwater Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Carl Capron of Shortsville and Leonard Capron of Kansas City, Mo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lola Wemett of Springwater; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday in the Springwater Methodist Church. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Springwater. Memorial contributions are being received by the Methodist Church.
