D. Willard Beam, Canadice, was born in Canadice, November 13, 1838. At the age of eighteen years he began the carpenter’s trade, and became a contractor and builder quite extensively for twenty-three years. In 1873 he bought the farm known as the Hazlett farm, containing 120 acres.

In 1880 he bought the farm known as the Thomas Doolittle farm, containing sixty acres. He makes specialties of hops and hay, having been engaged extensively in buying and shipping of hay to the New York and New England markets.

He has a wife and two daughters: E. Allene and Georgia Lillian, and Bernitha, his wife, all members of the Methodist Church. In politics he is a Democrat, and has been assessor and supervisor of the town in which he lives.

The Obituary of Eliza P. Doolittle Beam

22 May 1847 - 5 June 1877

From the Naples Record, 16 June 1877.

Canadice - Mrs. Eliza Beam, wife of D. W. Beam, died on the 5th inst. of erysipelas; her age was 20 years.

She leaves a babe about a month old, a husband and a large circle of relatives to mourn her loss. She was the last remaining daughter of our esteemed townsman, Wm. S. Doolittle.

Mrs. Beam was an estimable lady, beloved by all who knew her, and in her death not only have her relatives sustained a great loss, but the whole Church and community of which she was a most worthy member.

She had rare musical attainments and had been the church organist for a number of years. Her place at the organ can not now be filled by any home talent.

The funeral services were held at Canadice church on the 7th inst. the Rev. S. M. Day of Honeoye who officiated at her bridal about six years ago, preaching the funeral sermon.
