School Number 4, Hemlock NY

Circa 1900

The Hemlock Number 4 School was erected on North Main Street in Hemlock NY in 1876. It was joined along with school Number 12 of Glenville in 1911. At that time the “Union” school was built in the center of Hemlock. On 17 August 1912 the Number 4 school was sold at auction. It was then a doctor’s office and then a private residence.

School Number 12, Hemlock NY

Circa 1900

The Hemlock Number 12 School was erected at Glenville near Hemlock NY in 1883. It was joined with school Number 4 of Hemlock in 1911. At that time the “Union” school was built in the center of the Hemlock village. School Number 12 was dismantled in 1946.

The Union School, Hemlock NY

Circa 1912

The Union School was built in 1911 and this may have been one of the first classes. The Union School combined the Number 4 school on North Main street and the Number 12 school at Glenville one mile south of Hemlock village. This building burnt on the 19th of July 1928 and a new brick building was built which still stands (2015). None of the individuals have been identified. Click image to enlarge.
